This is a most interesting silver plated engraved Victorian early serving platter with cover, which has a removable handle on the top. We assume that this is so that the lid can also be used as a platter once no longer needed. The cover displays the 1808 1859 rampant lion motif crest of the British East India Company. Almost certainly dating to about 1850, having come out of an officer's mess in India. It is silver
